The secret to enjoying Christmas is really good planning. It is easy to leave things to the last minute and the amount of jobs that we have can seriously snowball (pardon the pun). Set aside some time over the next couple of weeks to get yourself organised. It will really improve your enjoyment.
1. Christmas cards- be sure to get them out as early as possible. If you simply find it all too hard, consider an e-card. Whilst it is not the same, it is better than forgetting altogether.
2. Presents – just like Santa does, make a list and check it twice. Don’t set foot inside a shop without a clear plan of who you are looking for presents for or what you are considering buying. This will save you so much time, energy and money.
3. Decorations – putting up decorations can be a fun affair but not if you are rushing it. Be sure to set aside a few hours or even better, a whole day, to getting your decorations up. Remember, you often need to clear space for things like your tree so consider this before you even pull a single box out of the loft.
4. Cooking – A large part of many peoples Christmas traditions revolve around food. Get your menu organised early and do take up people’s offers for help. It will ensure you all enjoy the day rather than one person being stuck in the kitchen. Most people are happy to bring a dish or two. Why not consider letting people also bring other items like Christmas crackers, nibbles or even drinks.
Most of all, make sure you take a moment to stop and reflect on all that you have achieved. We can become incredibly busy and Christmas can pass in a whirl.
